Bajakhana – With an ultimate aim to ‘Save Environment’ and purify the air, water, surroundings for healthy Punjab, a tree plantation drive was organized in Bajakhana village in Faridkot. This initiative was supported by Sikh Relief, Ekta Club and local villagers by providing various kinds of trees of medicinal and environmental values.
The Sikh Relief team feel blessed to follow in accordance with the words of Gurbani for the preservation of the environment
“Air is the Guru, Water the Father, and the Earth is the Great Mother”.
In previous years the tree-planting project began at Gurdwara Kiratpur Sahib and the campaign then moved to the school in Kotkapura at the nearby village of Mulla, where shared spaces and the outside of the villagers homes also saw trees and greenery planted.
International Sikh Charity with head office in UK, Sikh Relief volunteer Amandeep Singh Bajakhana told us that the elders and children gave full support to this initiative and with great enthusiasm planted trees in their village. They were full of admiration for the project that Sikh Relief was undertaking.
Sikh Relief feels that it is necessary to educate the Panjab population in line with the perspective of Gurbani on how to preserve their environment, as this will have more of an impact on their minds and thoughts than any arguments that the environmental scientists can provide.
