Amritsar – Activists of various Sikh bodies – Dal Khalsa, Akali Dal Panch Pardhani, Sikh youth of Punjab today held placards and black flags as they protested and observed ‘Black Republic Day’ on the occasion of India’s 66th Republic Day in Amritsar, India, 26 January 2015.
Dal Khalsa observed India’s republic day as Black Republic day and protested against alleged Constitutional wrongs, injustices and discrimination against the Sikhs. Public rallies were organised at 4 different cities today to protest against “Constitutional injustices”.
Party spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said Indian state claims to be a big democratic country in the world and celebrates 26 January as its republic day but its democratic claims are being badly exposed as it continuous to rob Punjab of its river waters by subverting the spirit of Constitution, denies democratic rights and distinct identity to Sikhs, imposes Hindu laws on Sikhs and suppresses legitimate struggle with militarily and police batons, bullets.
Dal Khalsa and Sikh Youth of Punjab also appealed to visiting US president Barack Obama to discuss Human Rights violation cases with Indian government.
