AMRITSAR SAHIB (July 18, 2014)—In a shocking and controversial decision made by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee , its senior employee and accountant SS Kohli was reinstated within 24 hours of sacking him.
Kohli had been sacked by the SGPC, but reinstated shortly after due to pressure from the Punjab Deputy chief Minister Sukhbir Badal. SS Kohli was found guilty of misusing Gurdwara funds for personal leisure alongwith a hefty salary of Rs. 10,000,000 annually.

Dal Khalsa Spokesman, Kanwar Pal Singh, alleged that the reinstatement of Kohli has come after pressure from Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal, who has once again proved that he is above the SGPC. He also said that with this single act, Sukhbir has proved that for him the premier institution of the Sikhs (SGPC) is a non-entity. ‘If SGPC head Jathedar Avtar Singh Makhar has even an iota of self dignity, he should submit his resignation forthwith’, he added.
This is not the first time where a SGPC employee has been charged with corruption and misuse of funds. Its president, Avtar Makkar, has been blamed multiple times of misusing the SGPC funds for personal matters.
