Amritsar, January 7 – The role of an SGPC official has come under scanner for allegedly despoitsing Rs 1.5 lakh donated by a Mumbai resident to the Golden Temple in his personal account.

SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said the matter was under investigation.

The matter came to light when the devotee filed a complaint with Makkar, accusing the official dilly-dallying the issuance of a receipt for the donation.

SGPC Secretary Manjit Singh said action would be taken if the official was found guilty.

“The inquiry has been entrusted with the SGPC flying squad. We are scrutinising the account details of the official. Our aim is to find out if it really happened with bad intention or the issue was just conspired to malign the image of the official,” he said.
