SAD leader Tota Singh receives shoes by Sikhs in New York

The minister of NRI affairs in the Punjab Government Tota Singh does not seem to be respected by the Sikhs in New York. When he along with his group of people visited New York, they were attacked by a large mass of Sikh protestors and some of them also threw shoes on him.

Two youths were also taken into police detention. Singh and his group of men had arrived here to address a meeting that was scheduled to be held at Richmond Hill in Queens’s borough on Saturday. The Sikhs did not like his arrival, and they chanted slogans and surrounded the whole area as per information from the rights group Sikhs for Justice.

The dispute continued for at least 3 hours and a huge mass of New York Police were called to take control over the dispute. The two youths were arrested because they disobeyed and broke the government administration and did not obey the conduct.

The protestors hurled stones at Mr. Singh and his group of men, as well as other Akali Dal leaders however they were taken away in due time amidst police protection. The Sikh groups were protesting for opposing SAD Badal for their unsuccessful attempt to condemn the Indian police who were involved in killings of Sikhs in the 1990s.

SFJ said the protesters pelted stones and hurled a shoe at Mr. Singh and other Akali leaders as they were whisked away from the venue amidst heavy police protection.
