POLICE say it is possible that a body found yesterday on the banks of the Tamar River was that of missing student Natasha Narang.
Inspector Darren Hopkins said the body retrieved at Rosevears was believed to be a female, lying face down above the Tamar high water mark.
“At this point there does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances, however the body is being transported to Hobart for the purpose of a forensic examination and post mortem,” Insp Hopkins said.
“It is possible that the body may be that of missing student Natasha Narang who was reported missing from the University of Tasmania in Newnham on October 4.”
A search of the area at that time failed to find her.
Items of personal property were found at the edge of the Tamar River on October 9 near the university, several kilometres away from where the body was found.
