Switching from Akali Dal Mann to Aam Aadmi Part, Former MP Rajdev Singh Khalsa has now joined the Shiromani Akali Dal (Taksali) on Thursday.

The President of the new outfit, MP Ranjit Singh Brahmpura reached out to him at his residence in Barnala. Khalsa joined the as in charge of the party in Barnala and Sangrur districts, which is part of Sangrur parliamentary constituency.

“We will get more leaders to join the party in the state in the coming days because people are fed up with the policies of the Congress and Badals. We will form an alliance with like-minded parties in the coming days as Sukhpal Khaira, Bains brothers and AAP MP Bhagwant Mann have also met us. Our aim is to protect Punjab from both the Congress and Badals,” said Sewa Singh Sekhwan, secretary general, SAD (Taksali).

Khalsa, who is a practicing senior criminal lawyer, had won the parliamentary election in 1989 on SAD (Panthak) ticket from Sangrur. He did not contest any election thereafter but remained politically active. He then joined AAP Punjab and had recently accused SAD president Sukhbir Badal of meeting Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim at the residence of Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar in Mumbai.
