MELBOURNE – On Wednesday, Oct 11, the press conference for the first ever Sikh music festival was held. The festival will take place over three days from October 13 through October 15 at Guru Nanak Satsang Sabha, Gurdwara Blackburn.
The Sikh Music Festival is a project created by the Gurmat Sangeet Academy, Blackburn, headed by Principal Satnam Singh. The festival is dedicated to the preservation and revival of Gurmat Sangeet amongst our coming generations.
The press conference was attended by Ustad Principal Sukhwant Singh & Ustad Anikbar Singh. Principal Sukhwant Singh is the world renowned Ustad of Gurmat Sangeet and as recognition of his Music skills, he has been bestowed the title of ‘Ustad’.
Principal Sukhwant Singh ji told media that during these three days of festival, there will pure recitation of Gurbani Shabads in 31 raags scripted in Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji.

Principal Satnam Singh also told media that besides the Raag darbar, there will be Gurmat Sangeet seminar held during the festival as well. He added that there will be multiple kids activities and painting competition happening in the festival.
Rajbir Singh, who is assisting in the coordination of this music festival requested Australian sangat to come on all three days to attend this event.
