PATIALA – Former DSGMC chief Paramjit Singh Sarna has been appointed as adviser to Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Tuesday.

After assuming his new assignment, Sarna went to Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib in Patiala where he met SGPC president Kirpal Singh Badungar, who was present there and invited Sarna in his office.

During the informal meeting, they discussed various issues related to Sikhism.

Badungar asked Sarna to apprise the CM about ‘serious errors’ in Punjabi University’s publications of Sikh encyclopedia ‘Gurshabad Ratnakar Mahan Kosh’, authored by a Sikh scholar. Sarna urged Badungar to take a lead in resolving the Nanakshahi calendar row, which created confusion among the Sikh community due to different dates of ‘gurpurb’. He also asked the SGPC chief to end all controversies regarding Dasam Granth.

“I have assured the SGPC president that the issue of Mahan Kosh would be taken up with the CM,” he said.
