Ahead of the 550th Prakash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan made an announcement on November 1 for Sikh pilgrims traveling to Kartarpur. He announced that no fees would be charged from Sikh pilgrims on the inauguration day of the Kartarpur Corridor as well as the 550th birthday Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Imran Khan has also waived off the need of passport for the visit. A valid ID would be permissible to enter the Kartarpur corridor. Also, they no longer have to register 10 days in advance for the pilgrimage.

India and Pakistan last week signed the agreement on the Kartarpur Corridor that will allow Indian pilgrims to undertake visa-free visit to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, the shrine of the Sikh religion’s founder Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Pakistan.

The agreement will allow 5,000 Indian pilgrims daily to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib where Guru Nanak Dev Ji spent last 18 years of his life.

The Kartarpur corridor connects the Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan with the Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Gurdaspur.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the corridor in Gurdaspur on November 9 while Imran Khan will declare it open from the other end.
