CHANDIGARH, Punjab (September 19, 2013)—Bhai Baldev Singh Wadala, Hazoori Ragi Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, along with other well-known renowned Sikh personalities held a meeting with Shivraj Patil, Governor of State of Punjab. The meeting was organized to discuss the illegal takeover of the ‘Netarheen Sangeet Vidalya’ (Music Institute for the Blind) by Baba Harnaam Singh Dhumma.
Members of various Sikh organizations from India and abroad, criticized the unlawful takeover of the ‘Netarheen Sangeet Vidalya’ in Amritsar. With the death of Baba Darshan Singh (previous head), a group under the leadership of Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma has taken control of the Institute, forcefully removing over 100 blind students from the institute.
A memorandum was earlier submitted to Giani Gurbachan Singh, Parkash Badal and Avtar Makkar, however the issue has not yet been resolved. Former trustees of the institute alleged that SGPC and SAD (B) members will not act upon the forceful takeover since they have good relations with Baba Dhumma.
The row started when a group under the leadership of Baba Hardeep Singh forced out at least 100 blind students from the Kirtan Institute and took over control. The institute is located across the railway station in Anandpur Sahib and the land is worth millions.
The meeting with Shivraj Patil was held to discuss the forceful takeover and hand the control back to Bhai Gurmej Singh Ji Hazoori Ragi. Bhai Sukhwinder Singh, Hazoori Ragi and S. Paramjit Singh (Trustee) were also present at the meeting.
