Modi wants MPs to Tell people about BJP initiatives for achhe din

Must Read

During the Lok Sabha campaigns, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised people that the ‘achche din’ (good days) were ahead. The words led to a stupendous victory for BJP. After two months in office, Modi believes the time has come to inform people about his government’s initiatives to usher in the good days despite all the concerns about price rise and inflation.

Modi now wants BJP parliamentarians to tell people about the administrative initiatives of the government. The public representatives are being told to reach out to people of their respective constituencies and tell them about steps initiated by the government. The Prime Minister has started meeting MPs from all the states who are in the capital for the ongoing session of Parliament. He has told MPs that his government has taken some “bold initiatives” so that the common man could benefit in the long run and he wants them to explain this to people.

A parliamentarian said the Prime Minister was holding informal meetings with MPs in batches as the budget session is set to end before Independence Day. Modi has reminded the lawmakers, many of whom are first-time Members of Parliament, the clear mandate that BJP has been handed with, is a big responsibility. Modi has already met BJP MPs from Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and some other states. Meetings with more batches will be held in the coming days.

Similarly, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has asked several ministries, including the highways ministry, to draw up a list of projects that can be started or commissioned to mark the first 100 days of the government. Taking his vision of a developed India forward, Modi has come up with a 17-point people-oriented agenda that was sent to ministries, who were asked to submit detailed action plans with sharp focus on delivery and implementation by July 20. Sources said this would ensure that the agenda could go underway when the NDA government completes its 100 days in office by end August.

From building coastal expressways to boosting labour reforms, as well as adding a health knowledge institute to every district hospital-the 17-point agenda has it all.
