An investigation into the disappearance of Indian student Natasha Narang continues in northern Tasmania after divers completed a search of the Tamar River.
The 30-year-old’s handbag, mobile phone and jacket were found beside the river on Wednesday, sparking a search of the waterway by police divers and a rescue helicopter.
It failed to find the PhD student, who has not been seen since Friday of last week when CCTV cameras captured her movements at the University of Tasmania in Launceston.
A police spokesperson told AAP the investigation is continuing.
Police previously said they had no reason to suspect foul play.
The items were found on a grassed area near the bank of the Tamar River, metres from the Armco railing along the Northern Outlet. Mrs Narang, 30, was last seen in Plumer St, Mowbray, about 1:45pm on October 4, when dropped off by her husband, Sandeep.
She had been stressed about her studies and had missed appointments with supervisors.
Ms Narang’s husband, Sandeep Narang, last saw his wife when he dropped her at the campus.
Local media reported the couple had lived in Tasmania since November 2012, arriving for Ms Narang to complete a doctorate in education.
Mr Narang and police have suggested the stress of her studies could be an explanation for her disappearance.
Anyone with information relating to her whereabouts should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Launceston police on 03 6336 3945.
