Melbourne — In order to show solidarity with the movement initiated by Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s hunger strike and to create awareness of the campaign to free Sikh prisoners languishing in Indian jails, a special Gurmat Diwaan was held at gurduara Miri Piri in Melbourne on Sunday 2nd August 2015.
The Diwaan was started with Japji Sahib path followed with Gurmat speeches, lectures to discuss about Bapu Surat Singh Morcha. Discussions were also held to discuss the future course of actions by Victorian Sikh Sangat. The diwaan was concluded with shabad kirtan and Ardaas as per Guru maryada.
Various Sikh organisations from all over Victoria took part at this panthic gathering. Bhai Joga Singh from Khalsa Shaouni Shepparton, Harkamal Singh Bath from Akali Dal (M) Australia, Jaspreet Singh from Qaumi Awaaz Radio, Pardeep Singh & Inderbir Singh Gurduara Miri Piri, Gurinder Kaur from Khalsa Education Society, Charanjit Singh from Charhdikala Newspaper and few others delivered speeches.
During this panthic gathering, all the speakers condemned the actions and the irresponsible role of State & Central govt of India and called for the boycott of all political parties of Punjab except Akali Dal (Mann) Amritsar.
