Melbourne Sikh Community participate in The Relay for Life 2015

The Australian Cancer Council, held a “Relay For Life” cancer walk, in the city of Whittlesea, Epping, at Meadow Glen Athletic Stadium, in the afternoon of of February 28, 2015. The event took place all day Saturday and concluded on Sunday morning.

18 teams participated in this Relay for life. Most teams, including Sikh Community’s Flying Sikhs Team, set up large tents surrounding the inner perimeter of the Stadium’s running track. It was the first time, that Sikhs participated in any Relay for life event in Melbourne. More than 30 participants from Sikh Community participated in this event.

Thousands of Australians participate in over 200 Relays across Australia each year. Some people Relay in memory of a loved one lost to cancer. Some do it to show how proud they are at having survived cancer. Some do it to show they are strong enough to beat cancer. And some simply want to be involved and make a difference.

Together the Flying Sikhs team raised funds of more than $1500.
