The vigil was organised by Melbourne Indian community following the outpouring of grief at the loss of the young man.

The vigil was attended by people not only from Indian community but from other communities as well. Local community leaders including Green Party Member Alex Bhattal, Cr Intaz Khan delivered their speech demanding justice for the family of Manmeet Alisher.

The vigil provided an opportunity for people to come together and show their support in the wake of the senseless tragedy.

Manmeet Alisher was a much loved singer who had performed for thousands of Adelaide fans just days before the bus attack on Friday.

Under his stage name of Manmeet Alisher, he played to a crowd of 5000 at the Diwali Mela festival at Pinky Flat last Sunday.
