BRISBANE: Exhibiting an unflinching unity on the issue of Manmeet Alisher heinous murder case the Indian community at Brisbane has sought Australian citizenship for Manmeet’s elder brother Amit Alisher to facilitate him pursue the court proceedings for bringing the killer of his brother to justice.
Meanwhile, following the procedural investigations, the Australian authorities have handed over the dead body of Manmeet to Amit, who is expected to fly back to India with the mortal remains of his brother by tomorrow. Several Brisbane based close friends of Manmeet will also go to India to attend his last rites. Only after these close friends of Manmeet arrive back in Australia, an Akhand Path will be offered at Logan Rd Gurdwara from December 1 to 3 to hold a collective prayer for the lasting peace to the departed soul of Manmeet.
A community spokesperson told media that the Australian government will shortly be approached with the demand of granting either citizenship or Permanent Residence for Amit Alisher, brother of Manmeet Alisher.
Meanwhile, following series of hectic canvassing sessions, the community leaders have got Amit agreed to accept the donations to support their family following an unbearable loss of tragic demise of Manmeet Alisher. Manmeet was the son of a poor teacher and by the time he reached the stage of helping the family he was brutally done to death.
A bank account has been put up in Brisbane at Amit’s name so that the money coming from donations, directly goes into the family kitty. People have been appealed to make donations directly into the account existing in the name of Amit Alisher.
The community spokesperson also disclosed that a proper framework was being thrashed out to register the Manmeet Alisher Memorial Foundation in order to run it like a corporate body in a transparent manner.
