Spearheading the campaign for upcoming Victorian State Elections, here are some announcements made by Liberal State Leader Matthew Guy and his team.
SIKH GAMES
On 18th November, Opposition leader and State Liberal Leader Matthew Guy made an announcement of $300K funding towards Australian Sikh Games. He made this announcement at PVR Receptions in Craigieburn at a Gala dinner event for its Thomastown Candidate Gurdawar Singh.
SIKH GURDWARAS
- Matthew Guy also made another announcement of $80K for upgrades of Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Craigieburn Kitchen.
- Keysborough Sikh Temple for contribution to stage 2 $ 326k
- An elected Liberal Nationals Government will commit $50,000 to the establishment of the Baba Budha Ji Charitable Trust in the Cardinia region.

SIKH EVENTS
- Johr Mela Baba Budha Sahib Pakenham announcement – $100k cultural and sports event.
- 200k for upcoming celebration in 2019 of 550 Birthday of the First Sikh Guru Nanak dev Ji. This Grant is for the Sikh March from Parliament to the Federation Square.
- Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan from Parliament to Fed square Festival – $70k
These announcements are being seen in the context of the upcoming Victorian State elections on 24th November.
Victoria is home to the biggest Sikh community in Australia. According to the 2016 census, Sikhism is now the fifth largest religion in the nation. With 126,000 followers, 53,000 Sikhs reside in Victoria and both major political parties have been out to woo the community.
