At Last Punjab Govt exempted Entertainment Tax on Chaar Sahizaade

At last following the footsteps of Madhya Pradesh and Delhi Govt, Punjab Government on Sunday announced exemption of entertainment tax on Chaar Sahibzaade, an animated Punjabi movie based on the life of four sons of the 10th Sikh Guru Gobind Singh.

The decision to sanction tax-free status for Punjabi movie directed by Harry Baweja was announced by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal, who also holds the portfolio of Excise and Taxation Department.

Justifying the decision, Sukhbir said that the tax-free status was granted to this religious movie “to educate our present generation regarding unparalleled and supreme sacrifice of Chaar Sahibzaade’s of tenth Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Gobind Singh, who made supreme sacrifice for unity and integrity of the country and to ensure religious freedom to every citizen”.

He said that the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party Government always encouraged Punjabi cinema that gave social and religious message for the upliftment of the society and would continue to encourage filmmakers to make movies on such subjects. He has issued orders to Excise and Taxation Commissioner to issue a notification in this regard with immediate effect.
