Labor announces continuous 3 yrs parent visa if elected

Must Read

Australian Labor Party has announced that if elected in upcoming election,  it  will change current visa scheme to allow parents to stay 3 years continuously to spend more quality time with their families and grandchildren  with just one month reapplying period .

This comes as a result of  the campaign ‪#‎longstayvisaforparents‬, a migrant community demanding their visiting parents to allow them longer stay visas.

Labor’s election promise, if implemented will benefit many communities who wish to stay closer to their families.

South Australian state Labor Senator Tung Ngo is among the supporters, backing calls for a three year long-stay tourist visa that includes a provision for mandatory private health cover for recipients.

He says the proposed visa is not intended to be a pathway to permanent residency for elderly parents, and that the stipulation for private health insurance is designed to ease the burden on taxpayers.
