Based on the motto of ‘Guru Nanak’s Langar, No more Hunger‘. the group freshly cooked vegetarian meals to anyone on Sundays in the heart of Melbourne city.
The charity has more than 100 volunteers and a roster is setup everyday during this crisis period to help the struggling families in northern suburbs of Melbourne.
Most of the struggling families have just arrived back from overseas and have been restricted to stay at home.
The food is cooked fresh everyday at Gurdwara Sahib Craigieburn and pre-packed in take-away containers. From cooking to packing and then delivering to the households, the volunteers ensure that full hygiene and food handling policies are taken care of.
The food orders are taken by 12pm everyday and the distribution is done between 6 to 8pm and the food is kept outside the house without any physical contact with the family.
The charity is receiving so many messages and compliments for this service in the hour of need.
