UK based Sikh non-governmental organisation (NGO), Khalsa Aid, has planned to build houses for the earthquake victims in Nepal. Its volunteers are already in Nepal providing relief to the victims.
Gursahib Singh, a Khalsa Aid volunteer, who returned to Ludhiana from Nepal on Monday, said that till date Khalsa Aid has provided medicines, water, food and other daily-use material to the victims.
The volunteers of Khalsa AID from all over Punjab, Jammu, Delhi and UK had left for Nepal on the same day of earthquake.
Gursahib Singh said that after completing the first phase of relief they have started second phase in which they are providing temporary structures for housing right nowthe victims of Nepal are being rehabilitated. In the long term relief operation Khalsa aid will built house in Nepal and started the mission by setting up temporary houses.
Asked about the areas in which they had worked, Gursahib said their teams had reached some of the worst-hit areas around Bhaktapur.
Khalsa Aid CEO Ravi Singh said the NGO will set up a medium term relief project. He has also appreciated the people for their donations to Khalsa Aid for quake victims.
NGO’s managing director Amarpreet Singh said since the launch of Khalsa Aid in 1999, the NGO has provided aid several times to the victims of natural calamities.
