The trailer of Kesari, based on the famous of Battle of Saragarhi (1897), is the best thing you’ll see on the Internet today.

21 Sikh soldiers vs 10,000 Afghan invaders. That was the battle of Saragarhi. One of the fiercest battles ever fought. On September 12, 1897, 21 Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army fought valiantly against all odds in the bravest battle ever. And now centuries later, Akshay Kumar along with Karan Johar is bringing the story to the big screen with Kesari.

The three-minute trailer starts with Akshay Kumar standing tall with a sword in one hand and a chakram (circular weapon) in another against an army of invaders. Welcome to 1897, a year when one of the deadliest battles was ever fought between 21 Sikh soldiers and 10,000 Afghan soldiers.

Akshay Kumar plays the role of Havildar Ishar Singh, who led the Sikhs in the Battle of Saragarhi and defended his post against an army of 10,000 Afghan soldiers.

It was in October 2017 that KJo announced the project with Akshay. And this Holi, the fans will finally get to the Saragarhi battle on 70mm.

Speaking about the film, Akshay had said, “I’ve started shooting for my film Kesari, where I’m in the heaviest turban and beard I’ve ever had to wear. So I shaved my head to make my life a little easier. I’m known for hating wigs, prosthetics and so on, and Kesari is quite demanding. It’s probably my favourite look, though it’s taxing to fight and sweat in this avatar. But I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

Akshay, who is busy experimenting with roles with each passing film, has yet again picked an interesting storyline for his upcoming film. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film also stars Parineeti Chopra and is set to hit the screens on March 21.
