LUDHIANA, Punjab — Dead body of Sikh activist Bhai Joga Singh ‘Khalistani’ was today cremated at his native village Chuharpur in the afternoon hours. His funeral procession witnessed a large gathering of Sikh masses along with prominent Sikh leaders. Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib (appointed by Sarbat Khalsa 2015) Bhai Baljit Singh Daduwal and Bhai Sukhjit Singh Khose were amongst those present at the funeral.
Notably, Bhai Joga Singh Khalistani’s motorcycle was hit from the back by a black colored Innova car near Ludhiana in July earlier this year. He was admitted at the DMC Hero Heart hospital in Ludhiana and remained in a critical condition despite being put under supervision of senior medical experts there. On October 6, he succumbed to his injuries which he sustained on his head during the accident.
Initially, as there was no progress in investigations against the responsible culprits, Sikh activists and family of Bhai Joga Singh had denied cremating his dead body. Sikh activists had been staging protests outside DMCH premises since then and were convinced of justice by the Police just yesterday after arrest of two culprits. The police have declared Sandeep Singh absconding.
Bhai Sukhjit Singh Khose told media that every day from 9 AM to sunset, a five member Sikh jatha will hold hunger protest until guilty Sandeep Singh is not arrested by the police.
“If we don’t see results by October 17, we will announce next course of action and it will be definitely make the situation tough for the Government,” Bhai Khose said.
Bhai Joga Singh’s funeral took place in chardi kala. Khalistan flags could be seen everywhere.
