Dubai might be one of the richest cities in the world, but this photo proves that even its citizens can’t resist the allure of free cash.
On Feb 11th this year, the city of Dubai had a million dollars in cold, hard cash rain down from the sky after being carried by strong winds.
Although locals have no idea where the cash came from, pedestrians could be seen dodging traffic as they scrambled to picking up the 500 UAE Dirham notes –worth about AU$175 each.
One local described how his wife pulled over her car and filmed motorists swerving in a bid to dodge the cash hunters, on a busy stretch of highway.
Officials have yet to give an explanation. THEY DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. Shrug. Just another day in Dubai.
We like to think it was the tooth fairy. Or Glenda the good witch. Or Dumledore, playing games with muggles. Or Eddie Maguire.
Whoever it was, we request your presence (and presents) in Australia, ASAP.
