An international student from Pakistan has died after his car veered off the road and hit a tree south of Perth in the early hours.

Emergency service workers were called to the scene in Manning Road, Karawara about 12:10am.

The 21-year-old man Turab Hussain was cut from the wreckage and taken to Royal Perth Hospital where he later died. He was the only son of his mother and had two sisters and mother left after him.

Police said attempts were being made to contact his family.
