This is the picture of a fugitive London jihadi posing with a gun and his “newborn son” after he skipped bail to join Islamic State in Syria.
The image posted on Twitter today shows Siddhartha Dhar, 31, pictured brandishing an AK47-style rifle in the air while cradling a baby.
The top henchman of extremist preacher Anjem Choudary is apparently pictured in Syria or Iraq almost a month after he went on the run with his family while under investigation by Scotland Yard.
Dhar, also known as Abu Rumaysah, was posted on his Twitter account bearing his Islamic name with the hashtag “GenerationKhilafah” – a reference to the so-called Caliphate.
Earlier this month it emerged terror suspect and father-of-four Dhar, from Walthamstow, skipped bail while under investigation by Scotland Yard detectives into Choudary and his associates.
He was told to hand in his passport but instead took his young family and left London on a coach from Victoria bus station heading for mainland Europe. He is thought to have travelled with his pregnant wife and four children.
He was arrested with Choudary on suspicion of encouraging terrorism on September 25 as part of an investigation into the banned extremist group al-Muhajiroun.
The Met police’s counter-terrorism command at the time said it was working to establish where he was.
But the post appeared this morning on a Twitter feed under the name of Abu Rumaysah apparently showing him in Syria. The IS flag is the account’s profile image. The post simply read: “With my newborn son. #GenerationKhilafah.”
Experts say it is impossible to confirm if the picture was actually taken in Syria or Iraq but there was little doubt about his identity.
