NEW DELHI: Officers of the security wing of Delhi Police met chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday and briefed him about an intelligence report that terror outfit Indian Mujahideen was plotting to abduct or harm him. Kejriwal was also informed that IM may use him as a bargaining chip to negotiate with the Centre for the release of Yasin Bhatkal.
Kejriwal was urged to accept security cover, but he turned it down again and asked the officers to go back. “As I said, I strongly believe in God. I will not take any security. Rather than giving security to me, let them deploy these men for aam aadmi’s security,” the CM tweeted.
Kejriwal tweeted again later: “Police officials met me in afternoon. They informed me about the threat and asked me not to disclose it to the media. They then themselves went and told the media.”
In another tweet, he said, “By announcing this, haven’t police made me vulnerable? Now anyone can attack and it would be said that Bhatkal’s men did it. (sic)”
Kejriwal also called the police foolish and said they were playing politics “Is Delhi police so foolish or r they playing politics? At whose instance? I am not afraid of my life. I would urge police to stop playing politics,” he tweeted.
Nevertheless, police are now planning to provide the CM with Z class security, whether or not he agrees to it.
