CANBERRA – As the 550th anniversary of Guru Nanak draws closer, various events have been organised in almost every country around the world, and Australia is no different.
Politicians, dignitaries, guests from various countries and speakers from different faith groups came together in Parliament House, Canberra on 21st October to celebrate the 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism.
A number of religious performances and speeches were delivered at this grand celebration.
Speakers of Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Nepali backgrounds shared their reflections about the universal teachings of Guru Nanak.
Amongst various Parliamentary Members, Federal MP Andrew Giles, Shadow Minister for Multicultural Affairs & Shadow Minister Assisting for Immigration and Citizenship, was also present at this event.
Sangat from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane also traveled by various means to join for the celebration.
Various representatives from Victorian Sikh Gurduaras Council, Sri Guru Singh Sabha Craigieburn, Khalsa Foundation Australia, Khalsa Education Society, Rehmat Foundation and many more also participated at this event.
