This year FootyFM be broadcasting live commentary of the 2013 Toyota AFL Grand Final in 10 languages. They ’ve hand selected 20 amateur (yet eager!) commentators who will bunker down at ‘FootifyFM Headquarters’ to call the most anticipated match of the year… in their native tongue.
Meet Gurtej
Gurtej is originally from Punjab. He was Footified after watching the Cats vs Pies Grand Final in 2011, where he was overwhelmed by the passion shown by footy fans. In fact, he likens that passion to a sport called Kabbadi, played in Northern India, which is just as popular as footy here on Aussie soil.
Meet Harbir
Harbir came to Australia from India in 2003. He noticed that, like cricket in India, footy is like a religion to Aussies. When his son was born in 2004, he purchased his first Doggies membership which was the moment he became truly Footified. Harbir has big hopes that his son will become a Doggies fan too.
SinghStation congratulate the selected commentators and the Punjabi community in Australia.
