Handworth – A “severe fire” has broken out at a Sikh temple in Birmingham.
About 40 firefighters tackled the blaze at a converted two-storey building in Booth Street, Handsworth, at 04:20 BST.
“The fire was contained to a storage room on the first floor,” a West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said.
Four people in the adjacent property were evacuated as a precaution and the fire led to road closures. The fire stated accidentally, the service said.
