NEW YORK, USA — The DSGMC president S. Manjit Singh GK was attacked last night by some youths in New York. He was attacked as he emerged out of a TV studio after giving interview.

In a video he posted on Twitter, Singh said, “A group of people attacked me and my relatives in New York. This will not scare me away from my path to serve the community. I have fought and I will fight until my last breath. Such cowardly incidents do not scare me.”

Interacting with media, GK claimed that the men who attacked him were intoxicated. “As I came out of a TV channel debate some intoxicated people attacked me and my family” GK said while accusing the assailants being ISI backed.

Meanwhile, the DSGMC officials have released a press note in which they have accused the Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) for orchestrating this attack on GK.

Earlier on his visit to a gurdwara in New York on Monday, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Managing Committee president Manjit Singh GK faced a protest against desecration incidents and Bargari deaths in Punjab.

The protest was staged under the banner of Sikh Coordination Committee East Coast (USA) with which around 95 local gurdwara committees are associated.

The committee’s coordinator, Himmat Singh, said Sikhs living abroad held the SAD government responsible for the Bargari shootout and a series of sacrilege instances in Punjab. He said, “These instances were staged by misutilising the government machinery to gain political mileage and Justice Ranjit Singh commission’s report has testified it.”
