Damdami Taksal Ajnala calls for Punjab Bandh on 10th Jan

Amritsar: Damdami Taksal (Ajnala) has given a call for Punjab Bandh (shutdown) on 10th January for permanent release of Sikh political prisoners languishing in various jails of India.

In a press release issued here, Damdami Taksal (Ajnala) chief Bhai Amrik Singh Ajnala said that rights of Sikhs are being assaulted by the Indian Government. Sikh political Prisoners, who have completed their life sentences, are still languishing in different jails of India.

The call has also been supported by Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara and Bhai Paramjit Singh Bheora who are currently lodged in Maximum security Tihar Jail in Delhi.

Bhai Ajnala appealed the whole Sikh nation to ensure successful Punjab shutdown protesting against the Indian Government’s policy of violating human rights of Sikhs in India by keeping Sikh detainees behind bar illegitimately for long.

Bhai Ajnala said that all the justice lovers should show solidarity with struggle of Sikhs on humanitarian ground. He said that State and Central Government should stop politics over Sikh issues. ‘Punjab shutdown is just a little attempt to awake the sleeping governments’ he added
