Chandigarh, 23 August – Dal Khalsa has observed that the arrest of Sikh preacher and member of newly-formed Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) Baljit Singh Daduwal is a clear case of witch-hunting by the Badal government.

Condemning the arrest of Daduwal, Party Head HarCharanjit Singh Dhami and Secretary for Human Rights Affairs Prithpal Singh slammed the Badals for resorting to such level to fix their political adversaries.

They said it’s ironic that Daduwal has been targeted for spearheading the campaign for a separate Haryana SGPC.

They said the very act of Akali government is undemocratic that suppresses “freedom to hold independent belief and expression’. “Today it’s Daduwal, tomorrow it could be anyone, they questioned.

They said the manner in which the police swoop his dera at midnight, arrested him in a five year old case and subsequently took him into a police remand under a false charges for possessing illegal arms clearly shows that the ruling elite was hell bent to fix Baba.

Rubbishing the police claim that Daduwal was possessing illegal arms, they pointed out that no sensible person could believe in the police theory.

Pertinently, the court on Saturday has extended police remand for one more day.
