Amritsar – Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa on thursday performed Ardas at Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Amritsar seeking Guru’s blessings to restart Bandi Singh Rihai Morcha (Sikh Prisoners Release Camapaign) once again in the first week of october.
The Hunger Strike campaign will be restarted for the permanant release of six Sikh Political Prisoners who were released on parole in December but thereafter were again sent back to jails on conclusion of their parole period.
According to sources, there has been a delay in restarting the campaign as Management of Gurdwara Amb Sahib, where the last protest was held, has refused to grant permission to hold the campaign from this Gurdwara premises. So since then, Bhai Gurbaksh Singh has been looking for a venue somewhere within the vicinity of Chandigarh city.
Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa also told media that the decision to restart the campaign has come in the light of the ultimatum that went unheard with no answers and was given to the Punjab Government until 31st August to release Sikh Political prisoners who have not yet been released even after completing their sentences. He also added that the failure of the current Akal Takht Jathedar, Giani Gurbachan Singh to put any efforts in this matter and for not keeping his promises, has also prompted him to restart his hunger strike.
Bhai Gurbaksh Singh also stated that he will be sending formal representations to Indian President, Prime Minister and Governor of Punjab demanding the release of detainees.
