A Bengali translation of the Sikh Living Guru Sri Guru Granth Sahib was released by former President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday.
The book in five volumes was released at a programme held at the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark, here. The Bengali translation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib will promote inter-religious faith and reach out to 300 million Bengalis across the world, particularly in India and Bangladesh, said former President Pranab Mukherjee.
This translation would send across the fundamental message of spirituality that there is only one creator, the former President said.
The enormous process of translation took four years by two translators with spiritual vigour, Chayon Ghosh and Jhuma Ghosh, who were commissioned by Dada Chellaram Publications.
The event also marks the 550th birth centenary celebration of Guru Nanak.
