With the government “ignoring” the August 4 ultimatum of various Sikh organisations, Surat Singh Khalsa Sangharsh Committee members along with their allied Sikh radical groups have decided to stage a protest outside Parliament tomorrow.
Khalsa’s daughter Sarvinder Kaur said: “Some of our supporters have already left for Delhi. They will assemble at Rakabganj Gurdwara and then march towards Parliament where they will hand over a memorandum to the Speakers of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.”
The petition would be given under the title of “Justice for Sikhs” wherein the Sangharsh Committee will demand a debate on the floor of both Houses on the matter of freeing Sikh detainees.
Another group of Sangharsh Committee members today met Deputy Commissioner Rajat Aggarwal. They alleged veteran Sikh leader Khalsa was being isolated by the police. Khalsa’s son Ravinderpal Singh Goggi said: “Except me and my sister, no one else is being allowed to meet my father.” — TNS
