Ludhiana – Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa, who has been on hunger-strike seeking the release of Sikh political prisoners, was hospitalised at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital here last night.
Ayush Chakhu, the hospital’s public relations officer, said Bapu ji’s heart rate was slow and he had been kept under observation.
Bapu Surat singh ji’s daughter Sarvinder Kaur said last night several police personnel along with a medical team arrived at their house and took her father along. “The police official who was leading the team told me that following orders by the government, her father was being taken to hospital for treatment,” said Sarvinder Kaur.
Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa, who began his hunger strike on January 16, was force-fed in preventive custody from February 27 to April 23. After being released, he again started his hunger strike.
