Australian Sikhs join Protest held for Kashmir in Melbourne

MELBOURNE: The Australian Sikh community joined the Pakistani and Kashmiri Community living in Australia to hold a peaceful protest against the Indian aggression for the past 70 years, removal of article 370 and Human Right Violations in Kashmir.

The protest was held on Saturday 10th August 2019 at Federation Square in Melbourne.

Despite a very windy and rainy weather, a large crowd showed solidarity with Kashmir and Pakistan. They asked India to stop the bloodshed in Kashmir.

They chanted slogans against Indian inhumanity and violation of the UN Charter on Kashmir.

Coincidentally on the same venue and time, Bollywood celebrities Shahrukh Khan, Karen Johar, Malika Arora, Arjun Kapoor and many others were attending the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2019. The protest was held right in front of the entrance of the event venue.

Many Australians, tourists and attendees of IFFM also joined in the protest to show their support for Kashmir and its people.

Slogans such as ‘Kashmir Bleeds’ ‘Save Kashmir SOS’ ‘Stop inhumanity in Kashmir’ were written on posters and placards. The peaceful protesters also marched from Federation Square to the Parliament House in Melbourne City.
