In a first, Australia has WON the highly awaited Inaugural Aus Kabaddi World Cup 2019 Trophy by beating UK.
Six teams from around the globe participated in the prestigious tournament – Australia, India, USA, Canada, UK and New Zealand. The event was organised by Khakh Productions.
The first semi-final was played between India and Australia whereas the second was played between Australia and the UK.
Australia, which won the title by defeating UK in the finals 32-28.5 also picked up prize money of $21,000. The runner up UK team also won a special prize money of $15000.
In addition to the matches, there were cultural performances by various local Bhangra groups.
The VIPs for the event were Kaushaliya Vaghela MP, State Member of Parliament for Western Metropolitan Region and Ingrid Stitt, Labor candidate for Western Metropolitan Region.
Sandeep Ludhar won the title of Best Raider whereas Mangi Bagga Pind grabbed the title of Best Jaffy. Both Sandeep and Mangi were felicitated with a motorbike- Harley Davidson each.
World famous Kabaddi commentator Kulwant Budhlada was honoured for his remarkable contribution in the kabaddi field.
Ford Mustang worth $70,000, which was the biggest attraction of this event, was won by Sarabjot Singh, a resident of Craigiburn via lucky draw. Other members from audience, Jasvir Singh and Gagandeep also won a T.V. each as a part of the lucky draw.
