Sikh Community is in shock after two prominent Sikh Media channels – Akaal Channel and KTV indefinitely has been banned in India over June 84 coverage.
The ban has been implemented on June 3 after Ludhiana Congress MP Ravneet Bittu had posted a video demanding ban on the Akaal Channel.
Being probably the first of its kind censorship over the state’s television news, the ban has come under heavy fire from various fronts, journalists and others in the media fraternity.
Daily Post’s lead journalist Simranjot Singh Makkar has condemned ban on Akaal Channel while terming it against the freedom of the media. He has appealed every media person to raise voice against the ban.
Both channels are known for their aggressive reporting styles and often impactful investigative reports.
However, the action against the channels has raised a storm of criticism against the current government and raised questions on the freedom of press media.
