GK credits SAD for his victory

Manjit Singh GK, president of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) who sought re-election from the Greater Kailash seat in the capital, has won the DSGMC poll from his ward with 1,230 votes.

Talking to the media, after his win, GK said the Sikh community of Delhi had approved the policies and works of the SAD, which was looking after the gurdwara affairs for the past four years.

Asked whether this was a win of the SAD or GK, he said it was a win of the SAD. He claimed that their team performed exceedingly well in the DSGMC and also raised Sikh issues at various platforms and with the governments. He said the Sikhs of Delhi had rejected the false allegations levelled against him and his party by their opponents and once again established the fact that the SAD was the only saviour of the Panthic cause.

Projecting a win as per the available trends, GK said the SAD had now been entrusted with a much bigger responsibility as the sangat had reposed full faith in them.

Sarna walks out of counting centre

Eartlier, Paramjit Singh Sarna, former chief of DSGMC and president of the SAD-Delhi, walked out of the counting centre after counting in the sixth round concluded. Sarna, who was pitted against DSGMC general secretary and senior SAD leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa, gave a tough fight to Sirsa in the earlier rounds.  Sarna led initially but later Sirsa took a lead which reached around 350 after the sixth round. Then, Sarna walked out of the counting centre. His representatives, however, remained inside.

Later, Sirsa won the Punjabi Bagh seat defeating Sarna. There was a tough fight on the hyper-sensitive seat.
